For students unable to attend the Montreal Student Movement Convention from June 19-22 at L’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), the below is a quick report back of what took place.
There were about 150 students from across the U.S. and Canada who attended the convention, as well as a few international students from Hong Kong and Chile. Eight California students were able to attend, 4 from Los Angeles and 4 from San Francisco. The convention consisted mainly of workshops with a mock General Assembly held on the last day. No final resolutions came out of the G.A., although many strong relationships were built at the convention that will be sure to help carry on the work of organizing and fighting for global educational justice issues.
The convention organizers also did an outstanding job of making sure everything got documented. Below are links to communal notes, videos, and other resources.
