STATEWIDE CONFERENCES are held twice a year, in the Spring and Fall, and alternate between regions.

REGIONAL CONFERENCES are held as appropriate to the organizing needs of each region.


SUMMARY OF PROPOSALS PASSED AT PAST STATEWIDE CONFERENCES

Spring 2016 – – San Francisco State University (Feb 19, 20, & 21, 2016)

Spring 2014 — California State University, Dominguez Hills (April 25 & 26, 2014)

• Action Planning — Top 4 Demands:
1. Follow the $ (Privatization)
2. Freedom of Speech (Repression)
3. Diversity Education (Diversity)
4. No to Napolitano (Democratization)
• Action Planning — Timeline:
1. Petition — first draft due by end of July 2014
2. Regional Meetings — schedule for September 2014
3. Outreach Tour — dates & details to be determined at Regionals
a. Plan according to what makes most sense to campuses
b. Go to each other’s campuses & build awareness & capacity
c. Include a traveling art piece (zine)
4. Week of Action — October 13-17, 2014

Fall 2013 — City College of San Francisco (October 18 & 19, 2013)
• Build and support campus locals as well as coordinate regionally
• Commit time to maintaining committees/working groups active
• Avidly work on publishing a monthly statewide newsletter

Spring 2013 — California State University, Long Beach (April 13, 2013)
• Focus Statewide Coordinating campaign on City College of San Francisco accreditation battle
• Structure union as mix between Federated and Decentralized models — ALL POWER TO THE LOCALS!

Fall 2012 — University of California, Berkeley (October 20, 2012)
• Amendment to Mandate and Principles
• Formation of statewide committees (with Statewide Coordinating calling for Spring ’13 actions)
• Endorsement of November 2012 local actions/campaigns
• Statewide conferences to be held twice a year, alternating between Northern & Southern California
• Tabled: Membership/dues, Fundraising, Federated Structure, Building for statewide student strike

Spring 2012 — Santa Monica College (May 19, 2012)
• Set of Student Union Mandate and Principles
• Formation of summer, regional, and campus-based working groups
• Signed letter of solidarity with three dozen striking Brazilian faculty unions
• Signed Brazilian student union International Manifesto for global student movement coordination
